They manufacture high-quality guitars and basses in Nagano Prefecture, earning acclaim from many musicians.
Their basses are known to be favorites of musicians such as Hojin Egawa and Mike Porcaro of TOTO.
This model is Sugi's flagship NB5.
The body top is made of Burl maple, and the back is made of alder.
The neck is a five-piece laminated construction primarily made of maple.
The technique of gluing together multiple pieces of wood to create the neck minimizes variations between left and right guitars and individual differences, resulting in greater stability.
The fingerboard is made of ebony.
These days, jet-black ebony like this is extremely rare.
The pickups are Sugi SB-85WJP.
These are powered pickups that produce a thick, powerful sound.
It is built with a simple passive circuit featuring neck pickup volume, bridge pickup volume, and master tone.
Despite having 24 frets, it has a distinctive sound that feels open without being too tight.
This characteristic seems to have a positive effect on both fingerplay and slapping.
In addition to the beautiful grain of the Burl Maple, it also has majola-colored block inlays, making it an eye-catching instrument in terms of looks.
Approximately 80% of the frets remain.
The truss rod is in good condition.
The neck is in good condition.
The body and paint have some minor scratches but are generally clean. There are traces that appear to be paint cracks near the joint on the front of the body.
