Geek IN Box was founded in 2015 by Shunske Saga, a bassist and music industry professional from Akita Prefecture. After years of experience in instrument retail, repair, and touring with professional bassists, Saga identified a critical gap: the bass market, representing one-tenth the size of the guitar industry, lacked specialist retailers with true expertise. He established Bass Shop Geek IN Box with a singular vision—to deliver world-class instruments and knowledge to bassists worldwide. The venture expanded rapidly. In 2020, Bassick Inc. was established to formalize operations. A flagship Hyogo location opened in 2021, marking expansion beyond Yokohama. In 2024, recognizing the potential of the Asian market, Saga founded Bassick Korea Co., Ltd., establishing a Seoul store and solidifying the company's international presence. Today, Geek IN Box operates six locations—GIB Yokohama, GIB Hyogo, GIB Seoul, GIB Lounge, Guitar Outlet Yokohama and TONIQ Yokohama—while also developing original brand products and contributing to music media. The company stands as a cultural bridge, connecting discerning musicians with premium instruments and fostering bass culture across Asia and beyond.
