Description & Condition
Description & Condition
Sadowsky was founded in New York in 1979 as a repair store.
The company started out repairing and modifying instruments for Marcus Miller and other New York musicians, and later began manufacturing guitars and basses as a component brand.
In addition to the NYC series manufactured in the U.S., Sadowsky had the Metroline series and Metroline Express series manufactured in Japan.
However, the Metroline series is now made in Germany, and the Metroline Express series is now made in China, and the logo has changed.
This model is a Metroline series MV5, which was manufactured in Japan under the leadership of Okada International, the authorized Japanese importer.
Neither NYC nor Metroline is necessarily a higher-end model, but the clear difference is the processing of the body.
NYC uses a chambered body, while Metroline uses a solid body.
The NYC tends to be lighter in weight, and the Metroline's solid body makes it somewhat more Fender-like than the NYC.
The body is made of ash and the fingerboard is made of maple, a golden combination.
Although it is not well known, many parts of the Metroline bass, especially the neck, were entirely designed by Mr. Kikuchi of Okada International.
The detailed truss-rod effect and shaping of the fretboard surface are the result of a trial and error process.
The quality of this guitar is highly praised by many repairmen and musicians.
The sound is powerful yet crisp, just like a Sadowsky.
Just by inputting it directly into a bass amp, you can get a neat sound as if it has already been mastered.
The frets are approximately 80% full.
The truss rod is in good working order.
The neck is in good condition. Scratch marks and small dings are scattered. The grips were originally painted matte, but have been played and are shiny.
The overall condition of the body and painted surfaces shows scattered scratches and small dents. It is tanned and yellowed. There are a few larger dents around the perimeter of the body. There are two visible dents near the jack, one 50mm and the other 35mm in diameter, where the wood is visible. There are paint cracks near the neck pocket and near the control plate.
The electrical system is in good condition.
No obvious modifications were found.
