Musicman emerged as Leo Fender's second brand and was loved by bassists around the world.
After being acquired by Ernieball, it has remained so and is widely accepted by modern bassists.
Louis Johnson, Flea, and many other artists are known to use the company's basses.
The Stingray is the brand's overwhelmingly popular standard model.
It is no exaggeration to say that it is one of the most popular basses in the world, along with Fender's Jazz Bass and Precision Bass.
This is a Special model, which means it has some special specs.
The neck is made of Roasted Maple.
It was originally developed as a wood for making saunas using Finnish technology.
The wood is treated at high temperature to volatilize the moisture and oil inside the wood, and is highly stable even at high temperatures and humidity.
In terms of sound, it gives the impression of a richer, more mature sound.
The fingerboard is Rosewood.
I remember that the pickups and preamp were renewed around the time the Stingray Special was introduced.
The pickups are made of neodymium magnet.
This gave it a powerful and wide-range sound.
It retains the classic Stingray tone, but fits more modern ensembles.
The preamp, which was previously driven by 9V, is now driven by 18V.
This allows for more headroom and aims for a clearer tone.
The 3-band EQ allows the sound to be transformed, ranging from a slap-back sound that is comfortable for slapping to a warm vintage tone.
When a single manufacturer handles everything from pickups to preamps in this way, the manufacturer's aims are strongly reflected in the sound, and the result, good or bad, is something very unique.
I personally have a good impression of this renewal, and feel that it is very refined and complete.
The tuning machine uses a redesigned lightweight open gear type.
The remaining frets are roughly 90%.
The truss rod is in good working order.
The condition of the neck shows symptoms of being high. Currently, it can be played without any problem by adjusting the string height to 2.5~3.0mm on 12F.
The condition of the body and paintwork shows finger lamp marks on the pickguard (not sticky). (It is not sticky.). Some faded spots can be seen. Other than that, there are no noticeable scratches and overall the guitar is clean.
The electrical system is in good condition.
The pickguard has been replaced. (Originally, it seems to be black.)
