Xotic is a brand founded by Japanese builder Hiro Miura in LA.
In Japan, Yoshiteru Takahashi, BJ of indigo jam unit, Katsuji Morioka, and many famous musicians outside of Japan, such as Chuck Rainey, Rhonda Smith, and Travis Carlton, are using Xotic.
This is a special one custom-ordered by GIB.
The XJ series has been highly regarded by studio workers as a line manufactured in Japan.
It is basically made in the Fender manner, but with some modern updates.
The neck joint is positioned slightly differently than usual, and you will notice that it is easier to get your left hand into the high position when you hold the guitar.
This arrangement is for the modern musician who uses the entire fretboard.
Ash body and Maple fretboard are the traditional wood configuration.
The fretboard is slightly longer, with 22 frets.
The paint is lacquer, and the colors specified are White Blonde and Super Light Aged.
One of the main points is that it is painted with lacquer, while it is often painted with poly.
It has a classic look and sound.
The tuning machine is HIPSHOT Ultralite.
The bridge is usually the original style, but since this is a custom order, HIPSHOT Style B was specified.
PU is Raw Vintage.
This is handmade in California and is characterized by its clear, crisp, and raw output.
It is more sensitive to the player's fingertips than before.
The Neck PU is deeper, the Bridge PU is more three-dimensional, and the mix provides a clear and tight low end.
The preamp is an Xotic original.
Controls are neck volume (active/passive switch SW), bridge volume (series/parallel switch SW), passive tone, treble, middle, bass, middle frequency switch SW, treble frequency switch SW.
The sound is neat, with sufficient bass range and pleasant overtones.
The performance is very high, and the overall level is high.
Traditional sounding 5-string JBs are always in demand, especially by session and studio musicians.
However, there are not many products that satisfy this demand in terms of quality.
