Kz Guitar Works is a brand based in Zushi, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, that manufactures high-quality guitars.
The company is also known for producing Queen's Brian May model guitars, which have gained worldwide acclaim.
As well as the highly regarded Red Special, the manufacturer's original models are highly regarded for their excellent playability and high-quality sound, and are currently used by famous guitarists such as Katsumi Watanabe.
This model is their completely original model, the Kz One Bass.
It never gave the impression of an instant guitar made by a guitar shop.
The body and neck are made of Honduran mahogany, the scale is 32", and the set neck joint is unique.
Although sometimes misunderstood, mahogany is not an overly soft wood.
It does not sound too light on the bass, and we are not worried about the strength aspect of the neck.
However, the neck uses a titanium truss rod and is reinforced with carbon.
Set neck joints are a speciality of Kz Guitar Works.
It is not common on many basses, but the smooth rise is attractive and this certainly has an appeal that bolt-ons do not have.
The bridge is not the usual Fender-style, but a HIPSHOT Gibson-style replacement.
The PU is an Aguilar dual coil.
Controls are 2 volume + tone.
In terms of sound, it is characterised by a feeling with rich overtones and an assertive middle range.
It is very different from the Fender type, but it fills out the bass range in an ensemble in a different way to the Fender.
It may seem too distinctive from the outside, but I personally felt it was within the range of what I could use in a normal ensemble.
The quality of the frets and neck area is high and the playability feels outstanding.
It was one of those handmade for music players, and I could feel such care and feeling.
