Description & Condition
Description & Condition
Maruszczyk is a brand created by Adrian Maruszczyk. The instruments are made in Poland.
A key feature is the ability to customize the body wood, pickups, and circuitry to your liking.
It has gained a reputation for its flexibility in customizing specifications to suit the player's preferences and its solid construction.
This particular instrument is the Elwood L5a, a 5-string active version of the Elwood L, a model developed from the JB style.
The top wood is Bird's Eye Poplar.
The complex grain pattern that spreads across the entire body creates a striking look that changes depending on the viewing angle.
The same grained wood is used on the headstock, resulting in a unified finish.
The back is made of Ash, the neck is Maple, and the fingerboard is Flame Maple.
The light-colored Maple fingerboard combined with the black hardware creates a sharp, refined look.
It is equipped with two Nordstrand Big Single pickups.
This guitar boasts a clear, well-defined sound characteristic of single-coil pickups.
The preamp features an original 3-band EQ.
It includes a switch to toggle the mid-range frequency, allowing you to select the frequency range you want to boost depending on the song or band configuration.
The master volume is a push-pull type, allowing you to switch between active and passive modes.
It also has a master tone control usable in passive mode, offering a wide range of sounds from the natural sound of passive to the wide-range sound of active.
The nut width is 46.0mm, and the string spacing at the bridge is 19.0mm.
Despite being a 5-string, the string spacing is close to that of a JB, making it less jarring when switching from a 4-string, and it's also easy to slap.
This is a guitar we highly recommend for anyone looking for a modern JB-style 5-string that combines a distinctive look with a wide range of sound shaping capabilities.
The frets have approximately 70% remaining.
The truss rod is in good condition.
There is some buzzing around the 18th fret on the 1st string. Currently, the string height at the 12th fret is 2.7-3.5mm, and it is playable without any problems. The string height can be lowered further with a PLEK tremolo.
The body and paintwork show minor scratches and small dents throughout.
The electronics are in good condition.
The string guide is missing. While this doesn't significantly affect the sound, some buzzing may be noticeable on open strings depending on playing strength.
