Tokai is a Japanese manufacturer that produces a variety of musical instruments.
In recent years, their guitars and basses, in particular, have gained immense popularity as a leading example of Japanese vintage instruments.
This is a highly regarded replica model of a Jazz Bass type.
Based on the serial number, it was manufactured in 1980.
The body is made of alder, the neck of maple, and the fingerboard of rosewood—a classic wood combination.
Considering the model number, it appears to be a model with a urethane finish.
It is equipped with original pickups.
The sound is a standard finish with powerful lows characteristic of a JB type and clear, sharp treble.
Compared to modern basses, it has an easy-to-handle, straightforward sound that is suitable for a wide range of genres, including rock, pop, and funk.
The frets have approximately 85% remaining.
The truss rod is in good condition.
The neck is in good condition.
The body and paint surface show signs of use, with scratches and dents scattered throughout. The metal parts show some tarnishing. There is a dent of about 2cm near the 6th fret on the neck. This does not affect playability. There are several dents of about 1.0mm and noticeable scratches on the back of the body.
The electronics are in good condition.
No clear modifications were observed.
