Xotic is a brand founded in LA by Japanese builder Hiro Miura.
In Japan, it's used by many famous musicians, including Yoshiki Takahashi, BJ from indigo jam unit, and Katsushi Morioka. Internationally, it's used by Chuck Rainey, Rhonda Smith, Travis Carlton, and many others. (Titles omitted)
The XJ series, a line manufactured in Japan, has been highly regarded, especially among studio workers.
While fundamentally built in the Fender style, it incorporates several modern updates.
For example, the neck joint position is slightly different from the usual, and you'll notice that it makes it easier to reach the higher positions with your left hand.
This is an arrangement for modern musicians who utilize the entire fretboard evenly.
The body is alder, and the fretboard is rosewood.
It's a classic configuration with a rich midrange.
The older logo design suggests it's a slightly older instrument.
The pickups are Xotic JB 5-string set.
The preamp is Trilogic.
The sound is refined, providing ample bass while incorporating pleasant harmonics.
Playability is also very high, making it a high-level instrument overall.
There's always a demand for a JB bass that combines modern playability and preamp features with a traditional sound, especially among session and studio musicians.
