Description & Condition

Bottom Wave is an original brand by Rough Time, which handled the import of Fodera and other brands in Japan.

It is known for being used by top professionals such as Hideyuki Komatsu, Felix Pastorius, Dominique DiPiazza, and Roberto Valley. (Titles omitted)

This instrument is a very rare MB-5 prototype created during the production process.

From its looks and specifications, it appears to be a signature model for Hideyuki Komatsu.

The body is made of ash, and the fingerboard is made of rosewood.

It achieves a balance between a tight, fast attack and a warm midrange.

The pickups appear to be original.

The output balance of each string is excellent, purely reproducing the subtle nuances of the player's touch.

The preamp is a Bartolini / XTCT.

Known as a legendary bass preamp, this preamp allows for intuitive and practical sound shaping, from the rich, deep bass tones that support the ensemble to the sharp, crisp highs that shine with slap bass.

The sound possesses the richness of a high-quality vintage bass, yet each note is clearly defined at every position, from the 5th string's Low-B to the high frets.

Even with aggressive slap techniques, chords remain clear, and the delicate touch of fingerstyle playing is faithfully reproduced.

This is undoubtedly a wise choice for anyone seeking a reliable, high-quality multi-string bass for live performances, or for players who want to own a rare bass that isn't readily available on the market.

The frets have approximately 60% remaining.

The truss rod is stiff, but approximately 90 degrees of movement has been confirmed.

The neck has a slight forward bow on the Low-B string side and a minor high-end rise, but it is playable without problems after adjusting the string height at the 12th fret to 2.0mm for the G string and 2.8mm for the Low-B string.

The body and paintwork show dents and scratches throughout. Several screw holes on the back panel and pickguard are loose.

The electronics are in good condition.

No obvious modifications were found.
