Description & Condition
Fender is, of course, the number one brand of electric guitars and basses.
It's loved by countless top artists, including Jaco Pastorious, Marcus Miller, and Geddy Lee. (Titles omitted)
The Jazz Bass was released as a higher-end model than the Precision Bass.
Its sharp, clear sound is loved by many bassists, and it continues to receive overwhelming support and shines brightly even today.
This is a 1973 Jazz Bass.
The pot dates on the neck and bridge pickups are illegible due to soldering, but they read 137-73●●, indicating a 1973 model.
The tone pot date is 173-7343, also indicating a 1973 model.
The pickup stamp on the neck pickup is illegible, but the bridge pickup stamp is 174373, also indicating a 1973 model.
The neck date is faded and difficult to read, but it reads 7●●●-2A, suggesting it was manufactured around 1972.
Furthermore, the black block inlays and binding are features only found on models manufactured between 1972 and 1973.
While the serial number suggests a late 1970s date, the potentiometers, pickups, neck date, truss rod adjustment port at the neck end, joint method, and presence or absence of micro-tilt confirm it's a 1973 model.
The body is alder, and the neck and fretboard are one-piece maple.
While ash and maple combinations are often associated with the 70s, the alder and maple combination, with its light midrange, is also highly recommended.
The fretboard is adorned with black binding and block inlays, giving it a distinctive look.
The pickups are original gray bobbins.
It has been refretted and renutted.
It's in a condition that allows for many more years of use.
This guitar features a distinctive, fast-responding, and tight sound characteristic of the 70s, yet it also possesses an open midrange nuance—a unique charm of this instrument, combining alder and maple.
Fret life is approximately 95%.
The truss rod is in good condition.
The neck is in good condition.
The body and paintwork show signs of use, including dents, scratches, and paint chips. There are two noticeable paint chips on the side of the body, approximately 30.0mm in diameter.
The electronics are in good condition.
The guitar has been refretted and renutted. The pickguard has likely been replaced.
