Description & Condition
Description & Condition
Steinberger is a modern brand that sparked a revolution with its groundbreaking designs.
They differentiated themselves in many ways, using materials other than wood and adopting a square body design.
This model is a gem of the ever-popular XL series.
We believe it was manufactured in the 1990s.
When it arrived, it had metal fret lines, a zero fret, and was fretless.
The fingerboard was thin and the fret lines were protruding, so GIB applied an epoxy coating to the top surface while leaving the fret lines intact.
As part of the coating, the zero fret was removed and a new nut was installed.
As a result, part of the headpiece was shaved down.
Please note that it is difficult to determine whether this is an original fretless guitar, and we cannot say for sure.
The preamp is stamped with HAZ.
It may seem more inorganic than a bass made of wood, but it somehow exudes an organic flavor.
A unique feature is the sound image, which never blurs, even when producing incredibly low frequencies.
The neck is slightly bowed.
The current string height at the 12th fret is 2.0mm on the 1st string and 2.5mm on the 4th string, and the guitar is playable with no choking or buzzing.
The body and finish show occasional scratches and dullness.
There are no noticeable dents.
The electrical system is in good condition, with some scratching and fading occurring when the balancer is turned.
Finger lamps have been installed.
The pickups have been replaced with recent EMG HB pickups.

custom: A finger lamp is retrofitted. The pickup has been replaced with a recent EMG HB. When it arrived, it had a metal fret line and 0 fret, but since the fingerboard was thin and the fret line was sticking out, GIB applied an epoxy coating to the top surface while leaving the fret line as it is. Due to the coating, the 0 fret has been removed and a new nut has been installed. Due to this, part of the headpiece has been shaved off.
