Description & Condition
Sadowsky is a high-end New York brand whose clientele includes top musicians like Marcus Miller and Will Lee. (Titles omitted)
Currently, the brand is available in American-made (NYC), German-made (Warwick), and Chinese-made versions, but this is a custom model from the time it was made in Japan.
Sadowsky TOKYO and Sadowsky TYO were brands that specialized in producing custom models that were not mass-produced.
This particular bass is a true Sadowsky TOKYO custom bass.
The body is made of solid ash, with a classic maple neck and fingerboard.
As the name '59 Burst suggests, it has a two-tone sunburst finish.
While Sadowsky typically uses hum-canceling pickups, this one uses a rare single-coil design.
This gives it a more jazz bass-like sharp attack and scooped midrange.
The controls are typical of the TOKYO era, with treble boost/cut and boost-only bass settings.
This electrical system combination is truly amazing.
Even with low string height, you get a generous low end, and on top of that, it has a strong, crisp sound.
Easy to play, great sound, great looks, this guitar is packed with the charm of a Sadowsky Tokyo.
Approximately 80% of the frets remain.
The truss rod is a little stiff, but has been confirmed to move about 90 degrees.
The neck is in good condition.
The body and paint show some dents and scratches, but overall it maintains a clean appearance.
The electrical system is in good condition.
No obvious modifications were found.
