Sadowsky is a high-end brand based in New York, with top musicians like Marcus Miller and Will Lee among its clientele.
While Metroline products were previously manufactured in Japan, distribution of Sadowsky products is now handled by Warwick, and production has moved to Warwick's factory in Germany.
While some expressed concerns about a potential drop in quality, given the high regard for the original Japanese-made Metroline models, seeing the actual instruments suggests such worries were likely overblown.
Compared to the Japanese models, the neck feels slightly thinner, and there are differences in details like the curvature at the body joint.
When Sadowsky NYC first released their single-cut models, it generated quite a buzz.
However, they were extremely expensive and are now rarely available, preventing them from gaining widespread popularity.
Given this background, the release of a single-cutaway model from Metroline is certainly welcome news.
By joining the neck to the body at a shallower angle than the double-cutaway model, strength is enhanced and string vibration is controlled.
This results in a stronger fundamental tone and a smoother attack.
Another unique feature is the inclusion of a mid-boost preamp, similar to the Will Lee model.
Controls include Volume, Balancer, Tone (with active/passive switch), Treble/Bass, and Mid Boost switch.
Acoustically, it beautifully designs string vibration, offering premium feel and sound.
We highly recommend trying it out.
Approximately 90% of frets remain.
Truss rod condition is good.
The neck shows slight bowing, but it plays perfectly fine with our standard string height setup: G string 2.0mm to E string 2.5mm.
The body and finish show no noticeable scratches and are in pristine, like-new condition.
The electronics are in good working order.
No significant modifications were observed.
