Description & Condition
-
PRS is a standard guitar brand for the new era, on par with Fender and Gibson.
The beautiful guitar basses they manufacture are known to be used by top musicians around the world, such as Rhonda Smith, John Mayer, and Al Di Meola. (Titles omitted)
This model is the Grainger bass from the CORE series, PRS's flagship model, which is finished with the highest level of technology.
This is a masterpiece loved by many bassists, and is also the signature model of Gary Grainger, who is known for his work with top musicians such as John Scofield.
It was previously made exclusively for Private Stock, an ultra-high-end line, but is now also made by CORE.
For the CORE Gainger bass, we held many sessions with many musicians.
This has allowed us to maintain the quality of Private Stock to the maximum extent possible while achieving even higher usability.
In other words, I feel that it would be more accurate to describe it as an updated version rather than a cheaper version of Private Stock.
The scale is 34 inches, the neck is maple, and the fingerboard is maple, so even bassists who are used to playing Fenders will feel familiar with this model.
The body is finished with a mahogany back and maple top, and the top is finished with an elegant curved top, typical of PRS.
The neck is joined with a set neck, which has a Gibson-like nuance. The bridge is original, but is said to be inspired by vintage styles.
While it has a traditional spiral saddle, the height of the ball end and the distance to the saddle are adjusted to aim for more stable tuning performance. The tuning pegs are custom models made by GOTOH.
The incredibly smooth operation makes you feel the high quality. The metal parts have a beautiful contrast between brass and chrome, which is typical of PRS.
The pickups are humbucking types with original rail pole pieces, and the preamp is original, with a 3-band EQ.
The controls are 2 volumes, 1 tone, and 3-band EQ.
Each volume goes into passive mode when pulled up, and only the pulled-up pickup is turned on. (When both are pulled up, both are turned on)The smooth surface of the pickups makes them great for use as finger lamps.
It feels like it was designed with a lot of thought.
The basic sound is very smooth, with plenty of low end and beautiful overtones.
It's a different sound from Fender or Gibson, but there's no doubt that it has universal value that will be loved by any ensemble.
The thick sound of the passive mode is rustic and perfect for old school music.
The beautiful and powerful sound of the active mode will fit in with a modern ensemble.
This is a high-quality product that embodies why PRS has earned such an overwhelming reputation as the world's best brand.
Please give it a try.
