Description & Condition
Description & Condition
Laurus is an Italian bass brand established in 1982.
They have a reputation for making instruments that are both highly original and practical, and are famous for being used by Federico Malaman.
This model is designed as headless with a through-neck style.
The neck is constructed of maple and purple heart.
The fingerboard appears to be made of phenolic resin.
It looks, plays, and sounds good. There is no discrepancy.
I think this kind of approach is valuable as the wood is disappearing.
The body top is gorgeous quilted maple.
It is really expensive these days.
The body back is made of a wood called kaya.
Kaya is a very durable wood and has been very useful, although it is not consumed in large quantities due to its slow growth.
The body is chambered for weight reduction and sound reasons.
The weight is 3.865kg, which is light.
The PU is a Nordstrand, and the preamp is a Noll, a modern choice.
The sound is characterized by a clean overtone feeling, as is typical of headless guitars.
However, the body is very lightweight, so it is not too dry and has a lush texture.
It looks artistic, but in fact it is a logically constructed, comfortable instrument.
It is wonderful.
The frets are approximately 70% remaining.
The truss rod is in good working order.
The neck is in good condition. There are some minor scratches and dings. There is a 10mm and 7mm ding on the head.
The body and paintwork are in good condition, with dings scattered across the body back. The strap pin next to the jack has been pushed in hard and the wood is slightly sunken. There are no functional problems at present.
The electrical system is in good condition.
No obvious modifications were found.
