Ken Smith, headquartered in Pennsylvania, USA, is a renowned brand known for producing high-end electric basses.
They are considered pioneers of modern bass design, having developed the world's first six-string bass and designed tapercore strings.
The instrument featured today is the JB model, manufactured in Japan under the KSD brand.
The neck and fingerboard are made of wood sourced from Ken Smith.
The body is made of alder and the fingerboard is made of ebony, creating a classic combination.
The preamp is a Nordstrand 3B, the pickups are original, and the tuner is a Hipshot Ultralite.
The sound signature is relatively mild, yet rich with a prominent midrange.
This is the opposite of typical setups that emphasize low and high tones and slash mids.
