Inner Bamboo Bass Instruments (IBBI) is one of the world's most talented effects brands.
Their SUMO STOMP series is also highly acclaimed.

Its quality is highly regarded by professionals and amateurs alike.

IBBI's loyal users include Naoki Koyama of m.s.t., Yuutaro Iizuka of EOW, and Takumi Katsuya, who supports Fujii Kaze, yama, and Tomoo.

This model is the B-II, highly acclaimed as a top-quality bass preamp.

It allows for a high gain setting large enough to drive a power amp directly, and can be connected directly to a PA power amp or a bass amp's power amp.

Originally, a preamp was meant to be connected directly to a power amp, which is why old preamps were so loud.

While the meaning of a preamp has changed somewhat in modern times, this model can be considered a preamp in the truest sense of the word.

As you can see, the only footswitches are MUTE and EQ PASS.
This means the pedal itself cannot be bypassed.

The controls are simple: a 3-band EQ with adjustable center frequency band, plus LEVEL and GAIN.
Bass and Treble have four settings, while the Middle is continuously adjustable.
The adjustable range seems quite narrow, which I personally like. (More details below.)

The sound has a slightly three-dimensional feel and a sense of being pushed, but is fundamentally quite normal.
The sound is clear, speedy, and pristine, and the fact is that there are few devices that can reproduce this sound in its purest form is a given, which is probably why this model is so highly regarded.

The voltage is boosted internally, which gives it a sense of relaxed operation.

The clarity and power of the sound when connected directly to a power amp is particularly striking.

You'll likely realize that this is the true sound of this bass.

In addition to input, output, DC IN, and tuner out, it also features a DC OUT.
This is for powering other effects pedals. (For convenience, we've written it as DC IN and DC OUT, but these are parallel, so it doesn't matter which one is IN or OUT. The same voltage will come out as the input.)

Many people use it to power IBBI's classic Compressor U II, and seem to have a solid foundation with just one adapter and two IBBI products.
When you experience this quality, it's easy to see why.
