Description & Condition
Description & Condition
Guitars are especially popular, but basses with their unique looks and rock sound are also very popular.
This model is a 1978 Grabber Bass.
The gimmick of being able to move the PU is unique.
I think it is especially useful for recording.
This model has a rock sound with a thicker midrange and low end like a Gibson.
The remaining frets are about 60%.
The truss rod is a little stiff, but we have confirmed that it works about 90 degrees.
The neck is in a high position, and the 4th string side has more forward torsion than the 1st string side.
As for the torsion, it is not necessarily negative. (The lower strings have greater amplitude.)
Currently, the string height on the 12th fret is 2.5mm on the 1st string side and 3.0mm on the 4th string side, and it is playable without clogging or chattering.
The heads of the imo screws on the saddles of the 1st, 2nd, and 4th strings are damaged, so they cannot be adjusted with a flathead screwdriver.
Fortunately, the operation is good, so it can be easily turned by pinching with fingers after loosening the strings.
The exterior condition has numerous dents, paint peeling, and blackening.
There are cracks on the top of the fingerboard between the 5th~7th frets, between the 10th~13th frets, between the 12th~18th frets, and at the 19th fret~fingerboard end.
There are traces of glue that seems to have been used to fill in the cracks.
There is a slight bump, but the wood is not raised and can be used without any problem.
The condition of the body and painted surface shows some dents and dulling of the paint.
There are numerous paint peels on the sides of the body where the wood is visible.
There is a 15mm ding on the inside of the cutaway on the first string side that has been repaired.
There is a sponge on the pickguard to lightly secure the PU, but it is dented and difficult to secure strongly. (Please understand that this is a matter of degree and that it is a subjective opinion as it is difficult to evaluate quantitatively)
The electrical system is in good condition.
The volume pot was defective and was replaced by CTS B500K by GIB.

D'addario EXL, which is trusted by professional musicians, is used in the setup.
It is characterized by a powerful attack and rich overtones, and its performance is truly worthy of being called a standard.
Please enjoy these high-quality strings that bring out the performance and character of the instrument to the fullest, so please enjoy them as well.
GIB craftsmen will adjust them to make them easy to play and deliver them to you.

The 4th string has a twist with a larger forward warp than the 1st string. Currently, the string height above the 12th fret is 2.5 mm on the 1st string side and 3.0 mm on the 4th string side, and it can be played without jamming or buzzing. Fortunately, it works well, so you can easily turn it by loosening the string saddles. The exterior condition has many dents, peeling paint, and dark spots. There are cracks on the top of the fingerboard between the 5th and 7th frets, between the 10th and 13th frets, between the 12th and 18th frets, and from the 19th fret to the end of the fingerboard. There are marks that appear to have been filled in with adhesive. Although there is currently a slight difference in level, there is no bulge in the wood and it can be used without any problems.
