Description & Condition

Fender is undoubtedly the number one brand of electric guitars and basses.
It's beloved by countless top artists, including Jaco Pastorious, Marcus Miller, and Geddy Lee. (Titles omitted)

The Jazz Bass was released as a premium model of the Precision Bass.
Its sharp, clear sound is beloved by many bassists, and it continues to enjoy overwhelming support and a shining presence to this day.

This model was manufactured between 1966 and 1967.

The neck end is stamped ""7 OCT 66 A.""
The neck pickup volume pot is stamped ○○○-6613, the bridge pickup volume pot is stamped ○○○-6613, and the tone pot is stamped 304-6631.

The neck pickup date appears to be 12-30-66, and the bridge pickup date appears to be 1-3-67.

The age was determined based on other specifications.

It could almost be said to have been made in 1966.

The body is alder and the fingerboard is rosewood with rounded edges, popular specs.

It has been refretted and re-nutted.
The gaps between the fret edges and binding were carefully worked into a smooth texture close to, or even smoother than, the original during the refret.

It looks very similar to the original, suggesting that a highly skilled repairman must have done the work.

The pickups are original gray bobbins, and the capacitors are Red Dime.
The solder inside the cavity has not been tampered with in any way.

For all these reasons, we can say that this particular bass is very original.

It is valuable in that respect as well.

It has an appealing sharp and crisp sound, typical of a mid-'60s jazz bass.
The combination of this sound and a mid-range rich in overtones gives it a truly vintage feel.

It will also perform well in modern music.

I recommend it.

Approximately 50% of the frets remain.
The truss rod is in good condition.
The neck is in good condition, with some high lift. When adjusted to our standard 2.0-2.5mm (above the 12th fret), there is a slight choking in the higher positions. It's not completely unplayable, and those with a soft touch probably won't notice it. Adjusting it to 2.5-3.0mm allows for comfortable playing without any choking. (Although there is a slight choking when picking hard.) This string height isn't too high, and I think it produces the thick, Fender-like sound.
The body and finish show dents, scratches, weather checking, and paint chipping. The pickup mounting screws are angled, making adjusting the pickup height (raising it) somewhat difficult.
The electrical system is in good condition.
This guitar has been refretted, as thin, low vintage frets were used during this period. It is likely that the strings have also been re-nutted.
However, the finish is so beautiful it's hard to believe it was refretted. The gaps between the fret edges and binding were carefully worked during the refret, resulting in a finish that feels almost as smooth as, or even smoother than, the original. This shows the work of a highly skilled repairman.

There are traces of drilling on the pickup mounting holes. This is likely a repair for a loose pickup.

Controls: Neck PU volume, Bridge PU volume, Master tone
Nut width: 38.2mm
Bridge string spacing: 20.0mm
Scale: 34 inches
Year of manufacture: 1966-67
Country of manufacture: USA

This guitar was set up using D'addario EXL strings, trusted by professional musicians.

Characterized by a powerful attack and rich overtones, these strings truly deserve to be called the standard.

These high-quality strings maximize the instrument's performance and character, so please enjoy them as well.

GIB's craftsmen will tune them for optimal playability before shipping.

Accessories: Hard case (advanced deterioration. Two original locks are broken, and a new locking mechanism has been added later.)
