Description & Condition
Musicman emerged as Leo Fender's second brand and was beloved by bassists worldwide.
Even after being acquired by Ernie Ball, this remained unchanged, and it continues to be widely embraced by modern bassists.
Many artists, including Louis Johnson and Flea, are known to favor the brand's basses.
The Stingray is the brand's overwhelmingly popular flagship model.
It's no exaggeration to say it ranks among the world's most popular basses, alongside Fender's Jazz Bass and Precision Bass.
This one is from 1993.
It's from around the same period as the one used by Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
It features modern specifications: a 6-shaft tuning system, 3-band EQ, oil-finished neck, and a through-body bridge.
The body is likely ash.
The neck and fingerboard are maple.
The pickup and preamp are original.
Its distinctive design features a single humbucking pickup mounted at the bridge position.
Its powerful, punchy, unique sound is unmatched.
It's a legendary instrument you'll want to try at least once if you play funk or fusion.
Approximately 80% of the frets remain.
The truss rod is stiff but confirmed to move about 90 degrees.
The neck shows signs of bowing upward, but it plays fine with string height adjusted to G string 2.2mm - E string 2.7mm at the 12th fret.
The body and finish show scattered minor dents and scratches. There is some sun fading on the finish and dullness on the metal hardware.
Electronics are in good working order.
The pickguard and treble knob were missing and have been replaced by GIB.
