Ulrich Bass Design is a small handmade bass brand from Germany.
The builder Florian Hertzsch is also a violin maker.

The main characteristic of this brand is that it is a modern bass with a neat balance between the widely cultivated classical techniques and Spanish guitar construction.

Saulus is a model for the modern player with a completely new value.
It has the fastest attack, the most dynamic range, the longest sustain, and the lightest weight.
It offers the highest quality for ergonomics and music.

The body back is alder.
The chambered body makes it resonate well, and in order to take advantage of its beautiful feeling, we decided to use spruce for the body top after consulting with him.
Spruce is not usually used for solid basses, but it is a standard top material for acoustic guitars.

The neck is strong laminated maple, and the fingerboard and PU cover are padouk.
The beautiful whiteness of the spruce and maple is utilized while the fade and contrast to the color of the alder and padouk create a beautiful look.

The neck, jointed with a set neck, is relatively thin with a flat grip.

The headstock is very distinctive, and was adopted from Spanish guitar construction.

This style of Spanish guitar, perfected by Antonio de Torres in the 1800s, is what Ulrich Bass Design does best and is clearly superior, according to Florian. (We also heard that the currently popular headstock style has manufacturing advantages, but ......)

Under the Paduk PU cover are two Haeussel pickups.

A Jazz Coil on the front and a Jazzbucker on the rear, while the rear humbucking can be wired in single, parallel, or series via a mini-switch.

The preamp is made by Noll Ellectronics.
Controls are volume (with active/passive switch), balancer, low mid/high mid, bass/treble, and rear PU wiring switch mini SW (series, single, parallel).

The bridge is usually made by Schaller, but this time it was ordered by HIPSHOT.
Tuning keys are Schaller.

The panel where the controls are located is fixed with magnets and can be easily removed by hand.

The playing feel gives a strong impression of a natural bouncing nuance.

The instrument itself seems to enhance the string vibration beautifully.
