Suhr Guitars is synonymous with high-end guitar brands.
Founder John Suhr began his career at Rudy's in New York, where he was highly regarded for his work on the Pensa Suhr, amp design at CAE, and as a master builder for Fender.
Not to mention his excellent work on his own brand, Suhr Guitars, which he later founded.
His guitars are especially popular in Japan, but as his work with Pensa Suhr and Fender shows, the basses he makes are also top-notch.
This one is a Classic J, a model based on the JB.
The body is made of alder and the fingerboard is rosewood, a classic configuration.
Paint is done with lacquer and Light Aged finish.
The maple neck is quarter-sawn.
The neck is quarter-sawn maple, which is not necessarily a good thing, but the fact that it was chosen for this guitar is significant.
The fingerboard radius is 7.25", which is standard.
The frets are stainless steel type and the installation is really good.
The fretboard is a stainless steel type, and the fretboard installation is really well done. It is the best.
Bridge is GOTOH vintage type, tuners are HIPSHOT.
The pickups are original single coils.
Suhr pickups are highly regarded for their high quality.
What is noteworthy in terms of playing comfort is its high playability.
Despite its extremely classic design, it is really easy to play.
Especially in the Fender style, you may have to work hard to make it sound its fullest appeal.
