Stem is a brand by Sago New Material Guitars, a handmade brand in Kansai, Japan.

Stem is a line that falls between Sago, which specializes in custom-order production, and Seed, which is made outside of Japan and offers high quality at a low cost with excellent quality control.

By keeping the specifications and shapes fixed, they are known for producing models with the high quality of Sago while keeping costs low.

This model is the original Sonia.

This model is based on the traditional Stratocaster, but with some ideas incorporated into the design.

This model was displayed at YOKOHAMA MUSIC STYLE 2025.

The body is Alder, the neck is Hard Maple, and the fingerboard is Rosewood, a traditional combination.

The body, pickguard, and head are all black, giving it a very cool look.

The bold and realistic aged finish applied to the entire body gives it an old-like look.

The body shape is slightly smaller than that of a traditional Stratocaster, and is slightly slanted for a better fit.

L(x) ST-Lite pickups are installed in the neck and middle positions, and L(x) HB-Lite pickups in the bridge position.

The pickups cover a wide range of sounds from sparkling and crisp to powerful and fat.

The middle pickup is uniquely positioned slightly closer to the bridge.

This allows the middle pickup to produce an edgy sound like a single rear pickup, despite its SSH layout.

Furthermore, when the Neck + Middle half-tone is used, the distance between the Neck and Middle pickups creates a three-dimensional sound.

The nut is made of oiled cow bone, the tuning machine is a Gotoh locking type, and the bridge is equipped with a Gotoh 6-point tremolo unit, so there are no gaps in the hardware.

This gem is a sublimation of traditional style with various ideas added.
