Sonic is a brand led by Yutaka Takeda, a leading guitar builder in Japan.
The quality of their custom guitars and basses is highly acclaimed, and they support many professional artists.
This is a 5-string JB model specially ordered by GIB.
The basic concept is a modern 5-string JB that fully utilizes Sonic's in-depth knowledge of Fender-style bass production.
We kept it within a standard framework and aimed for a bass with universal value.
The body is made of Alder and the fingerboard is Rosewood, which are the standard.
The tuners are HIPSHOT Ultralite and the bridge is HIPSHOT Style B Alumi.
The maple neck has a smooth grain and is finished with gloss finish.
The pickups are original single coils and the preamp is Bonheur BH-3.
The preamp is excellent and very well made.
Some people don't like the hard sound of the active when it goes through the preamp.
In this preamp, a virtual passive circuit is included to give a passive feel.
The convenience of a preamplifier is obtained while maintaining the warmth and fatness typical of passive.
Noise is naturally low and the sound is clear without distortion. Excellent.
The pot used for volume is of course full up volume.
Controls are neck PU volume, bridge PU volume, middle (active/passive SW), treble/bass.
The sound is naturally comfortable to play, and one can tell it is of high quality at first listen.
Neat, low noise, plenty of bass and attacky treble.
Everything I expected from Sonic has been realized at a high level on this masterpiece JB.
Mr. Takeda, who produced this product, is really wonderful. It is the best.
