Sire rose to fame as a brand releasing basses supervised by Marcus Miller.
The quality of the guitars and basses they produce is extremely high, and they are highly popular even among people other than Marcus fans.
This is their new product, the Z7-5.
As you can see, this model is based on the Musicman Stingray.
The neck has a nice, old-fashioned feel to it.
A model called the Z3 was also released, but the Z7 has additional pickups and a preamp that allows for more precise adjustments.
The body material is Swamp Ash for the NT color, and Alder for the others.
The fingerboard is Roasted Maple, Maple, or Ebony, depending on the model.
The neck material is similarly different, with Roasted Maple for the NT color and Maple for the others.
The pickups are a set of Sire Premium J+MM.
These can be freely mixed using the balancer.
The preamp has a mid-frequency section, and controls include Volume/Tone, Blender, Treble, Middle/Freq, and Bass (passive/active switch).
The original Musicman Stingray doesn't have a passive option, so many people will see this as a positive.
The finish on the fingerboard and frets is excellent.
At this price point, it's naturally of high quality, comparable to instruments in higher price ranges.
The sound is as expected, with crisp, strong highs and tight lows.
Until now, there haven't been many options for this type of guitar, but I feel like a great replica has finally arrived. I recommend it.
