Sadowsky is a high-end brand based in New York with top musicians like Marcus Miller and Will Lee among its clientele.
While Metroline had previously been manufactured in Japan, as Warwick took over distribution of Sadowsky products, production moved to Warwick's factory in Germany.
While some expressed concerns about a potential decline in quality, given the high regard for the original Japanese-made Metroline models, seeing the actual instruments reveals these fears were largely unfounded.
Compared to the Japanese-made ones, the neck feels slightly thinner, and there are differences in the roundness of the body joint area.
Additionally, the old Metroline used a solid body.
However, this new Metroline, like the NYC model, employs a chambered body design.
This significantly reduces the weight to around 3kg, a clear advantage.
This model is the signature model of the master bassist Will Lee.
The custom preamp features a unique mid-boost switch.
This allows boosting at either 500Hz or 800Hz.
For each, you can select a wide or narrow range for the Q factor.
The excellent electronics, typical of Sadowsky, deliver a powerful sound even at low string heights.
Playability is also superb, making this a product with high overall potential.
The pickup is said to differ from both the old Metroline and NYC models, yet it delivers a clean, beautifully designed sound.
It lacks any harshness and seems very manageable.
