Description & Condition
Pensa Suhr is an original brand of Rudy's, a guitar store in New York City.
Rudy's has produced many great builders, and John Sur, Stefan Marchionne, Mas Hino, and Jimmy Coppolo worked at Rudy's.
This model is a custom made JB replica.
The year of manufacture was 1993, and Mas Hino was in charge of the project.
Pensa Suhr was later renamed Pensa Custom.
Although the quality of Pensa Suhr is also excellent, there are many people who prefer Pensa Suhr.
The body is made of ash back and flame maple top.
The beauty of the top material is synonymous with Pensa, which continues to this day, and the high grade is evident.
The fingerboard is maple.
The pickups are Bartolini and the preamp is believed to be original.
Treble is boost/cut and bass is boost only, which is a point in common with Sadowsky Tokyo and the current Pensa preamp.
Tuning keys are Schaller, and the 4th string has D tuners installed.
The bridge is GOTOH.
It has a big sound image but sharp sound.
It is more powerful than the one-time LTD-era Sadowsky and sharper than the current NYC Sadowsky.
The remaining frets are roughly 70%.
The truss rod is a little stiff, but we have confirmed that it works about 90°.
The neck is in good condition.
Overall, there are scattered dents and scratches.
There is a large sticker mark on the back of the head.
The body and paintwork are in good condition, with a few scratches, small dings, and weather checks throughout.
There are two paint cracks near the neck pocket.
There are no large dents where the wood is visible.
Some of the pots have been replaced, but overall there are no problems with the electrical system.
