Bacchus is a Japanese brand based in Nagano, Japan.
The brand is under the umbrella of Divisor, which owns a large guitar factory called Asuka Factory, and its high quality is appreciated by many musicians because it is handled by the factory itself.
Bacchus has several series in different price ranges, but the Universe series pursues particularly high cost performance.
The WJB-1DX is a JB model that follows the concept of the top-of-the-range WOODLINE model.
The slightly shaped dinky body, heel-less joint with plate and deep contours on the body back are all designed to provide a high level of playability.
The frets are made of stainless steel, which is highly resistant to wear and staining.
The use of stainless steel frets is innovative at such a price point, as they cost more than nickel ones.
The neck is made of roasted maple.
Roasted wood, also known as Thermo wood, is a new material popularised by Sago new material guitars in Japan.
It was originally developed as a Finnish technique to make sauna wood.
Treatment at high temperatures volatilises the water and oil inside the wood, making it highly stable even at high temperatures and humidity.
In terms of sound, it gives the impression of a richer, more mature sound.
As with stainless steel frets, this type of specification is not normally used in this price range.
