Sire became famous for releasing basses supervised by Marcus Miller.
The quality of their guitars and basses is extremely high, and they are highly regarded not only by Marcus Miller fans but also by a wider audience.
This model is the V5, modeled after the JB bass.
While there are several models in the V series, this one has a design that evokes a vintage feel.
The body is made of alder.
The neck is made of roasted maple with a satin finish.
This is also known as Thermowood.
Thermowood, which was commercialized in the musical instrument field by Sago of Japan, was originally used in Finland as a building material for saunas.
Thermowood is valued as a wood that can withstand high temperatures and humidity, and its usefulness for musical instruments is evident from its adoption by top manufacturers such as Sadowsky and Suhr.
It is said that a certain amount of Thermowood is discarded during processing.
Presumably, those that will warp in the future are also discarded here.
The fretboard is also made of roasted maple.
Unlike the neck, this part has a gloss finish.
The edges are nicely rounded, aiming to improve playability.
Most players will likely have a positive impression of this specification.
The pickups are original.
The bridge pickup position is the same as a Fender 70's JB.
It produces a unique, tight, and powerful sound.
Despite being tight, it's rich in harmonics and features a powerful sound with a moderate amount of compression.
It retains the easy playability characteristic of Sire basses while offering a vintage-like feel.
This bass is recommended not only as a step-up instrument but also as a backup.
The frets have approximately 90% remaining.
The truss rod is in good condition.
The neck is in good condition.
The body and paintwork show some minor scratches all over, but overall it is clean.
