PRS is a new-era standard guitar brand, alongside Fender and Gibson.

This model is the Grainger bass from the CORE series, PRS's flagship model, crafted with the highest level of technology.

This is a masterpiece beloved by many bassists, and also the signature model of Gary Grainger, known for his work with top musicians such as John Scofield.

Previously produced exclusively for the ultra-premium Private Stock line, it is now also produced in the CORE series.

Many musicians collaborated on the CORE Grainger bass, resulting in a design that maintains the highest quality of the Private Stock while offering even greater usability.

In other words, it's more accurate to describe it as an updated version rather than a cheaper version of the Private Stock.

The scale length is 34 inches, the neck is maple, and the fretboard is rosewood, incorporating specifications that will feel familiar to bassists accustomed to playing Fender basses.

Meanwhile, the body is mahogany back with a maple top, and the top is finished with an elegant curved top, typical of PRS.

The neck is joined using a set-neck construction, which gives it a Gibson-like feel.

The bridge is original, but is said to be inspired by vintage styles.

While it resembles a traditional spiral saddle, the height of the ball ends and the distance to the saddles have been adjusted to aim for more stable tuning performance.

The tuning pegs are custom models made by GOTOH.

They operate incredibly smoothly, demonstrating their high quality.

The metal parts feature a beautiful contrast between brass and chrome, which can be considered a characteristic of PRS.

The pickups are original rail pole piece humbucking type, and the preamp is original with a 3-band EQ.

Controls are 2 volume, 1 tone + 3-band EQ.

Each volume knob can be pulled up to enter passive mode, and only the pulled-up pickup will be ON. (Both will be ON when both are pulled up.)

The smooth surface of the pickups, which can be used like a finger ramp, is a major attraction.

It feels like it's been very thoughtfully designed.

The basic sound is very smooth, with a rich low end and beautiful harmonics.

While it's a different sound from both Fender and Gibson, it undoubtedly possesses universal value that will be loved in any ensemble.

The thickness of the passive mode's sound is rustic and perfect for old-school music.
