Description & Condition
Jad Freer Audio is a brand that designs and manufactures audio equipment, founded in Italy by Mauro Freddi and Giada Pezzi.
Mauro is an expert in electronics and audio, and he handles the electronic design to meet professional specifications.
Giada supports the hardware design, and their combination results in the production of high-quality items.
Originally known for its effects pedals, the company now also manufactures amplifiers and cabinets.
While primarily supported by European musicians, it is currently experiencing a rapid increase in global attention.
The reason for this is the CAPO bass preamp.
They describe the CAPO not just as a preamp, but as a "Multiple Preamp – DI – Saturator – FX Loop."
It's a definitive pedal that becomes the core of any bassist's pedalboard.
This preamp features two different preamps, A SIDE and B SIDE, as well as two saturators with different characteristics, J and F.
A SIDE is a clean preamp with ample headroom.
It has a very natural character, strongly enhancing the tone while preserving the instrument's original sound.
The next section is the saturator.
The J and F saturators, each with different characteristics, can be freely balanced, and their mix ratio with the A SIDE preamp can also be freely adjusted.
J offers a rich low end and strong attack.
F, in contrast, is characterized by a strong midrange and a vintage-like texture.
The main concept of CAPO is the ability to freely mix the J and F saturations, which are contrasting to the extremely flat character of A SIDE.
This allows you to create a saturation effect while maintaining maximum dynamic range and shaping it to your preferred amp-like character.
This blended tone can then be further adjusted with the 3-band EQ.
BASS: ±12dB@80Hz (Shelving)
MID: ±9dB@100Hz-10KHz (Bandpass)
HIGH: ±12dB@4KHz (Shelving)
Furthermore, the DEEP switch, which boosts the low end, and the BITE switch, which enhances the attack, support even more detailed sound shaping.
Another preamp is available, the B SIDE, which uses FETs.
In contrast to the flat-response A SIDE, this has a tube amp-like tone.
Like a classic tube amp, it has a natural response, a wide dynamic range, and a wide gain range that covers from clean to overdrive.
It can be operated individually with the A SIDE, or in series using the PRE/POST switch.
In addition to the functions of this preamp, it also features DI, LPF, and loop effect functions.
The DI has two outputs.
DIRECT OUT sends a signal that bypasses the preamp, resulting in the driest sound.
PREAMP OUT sends a signal that has passed through the preamp, representing the sound after going through the preamp, EQ, and effects loop.
If an effect pedal in the effects loop inverts the phase, the phase inversion switch can be used to align the phase of DIRECT OUT and PREAMP OUT.
Using these two signals allows sound engineers greater flexibility in their work.
The LPF is a high-frequency filter designed to cut only the necessary frequencies.
It affects both PREAMP OUT and OUTPUT, even when the pedal is bypassed.
Two types of loop effects are available: PRE and POST.
PRE is placed before the pedal, and POST is placed after.
POST can be linked to A SIDE for on/off control, or kept always active.
You can see that this is not just a simple preamp, but a multi-pedal that meets many of the bassist's needs with high quality. This is the cutting edge of the world.
Please try it.
