Description & Condition
Stem is a brand created by Sago New Material Guitars, a handmade brand from the Kansai region of Japan.
By fixing the specifications and shape, they keep costs down while still producing models that showcase Sago's high quality.
This is the JMB, modeled after the Jazzmaster.
The body is made of alder, and the fingerboard is rosewood, a classic wood combination.
While the basic body shape is JM type, the horns are slightly extended to improve balance when held, and the cutaway is deeply carved to make it easier to access the higher positions.
It's a design that's firmly established as a bass guitar.
The finish is Sago's signature Thin lacquer.
Furthermore, it has a realistic aged finish, giving it an outstanding look.
The pickups are original L(x)Lite BJM5s.
While the look is exactly like a JM type, the internal structure is a split-coil design.
It's a style similar to the PP configuration that has been quietly gaining popularity in recent years.
A noteworthy point is that it produces a thick sound with no noise, even on its own. The neck pickup delivers a truly PB-like open and fat sound, and the bridge pickup also has a substantial thickness, possessing enough strength to stand out in an ensemble.
Yet, when mixed, it produces a crisp sound with scooped mids, making its high reputation understandable.
Its eye-catching, cool looks, combined with its universally appealing bass sound, are truly captivating.
A wonderful instrument.
