Momose, based in Matsumoto, Nagano, is one of Japan's leading brands producing high-quality basses and guitars.
It is renowned for its beautiful appearance, superior sound, and meticulous woodworking techniques.
It enjoys the trust of professionals and is known to be used by top musicians such as Kazuki Isogai and Kyohei Ariga. (Titles omitted)
This MJ2 series is an ambitious work that incorporates Momose's unique design and interpretation into the details, based on the traditional JB style.
The body is made of two-piece ash, and the neck and fingerboard are made of maple, a classic construction.
The bridge is a reliable GOTOH 203B-4, and the tuning machines are also GOTOH GB11WC.
There's no compromise in the selection of hardware.
The pickups are Momose original VJ-1s.
This instrument has been modified from the standard two-volume control setup to a "master volume, balancer, and master tone" configuration.
This allows for instant volume adjustment and intuitive, seamless pickup blending.
The sound is appealingly balanced, with a tight, focused low end and a trebly high end with a strong attack.
The crisp, responsive feel during slap techniques is also noteworthy.
Furthermore, the ultra-smooth playability, characteristic of Deviser products, minimizes player stress, which is a significant advantage for musicians who require long playing sessions.
Combined with the ease of use of the controls, this is an instrument we confidently recommend to anyone looking for a high-quality, practical passive JB.
The frets have approximately 70% remaining.
The truss rod is stiff, but approximately 90-degree movement has been confirmed.
The neck is in good condition.
The body and paintwork have numerous dents overall.
The electronics are in good condition.
The neck pickup volume pot has been replaced with a CTS balancer pot. The capacitor has also been replaced (0.047μF).
