Hofner is a brand that manufactures distinctive instruments, such as the so-called "violin bass."
It's known that Paul McCartney and others have favored their basses.
This is a reissue model of the 500/1, a representative model of the brand, reproducing the original 1963 model.
It is manufactured in Germany, where Hofner is based.
The body top is spruce, and the body back is flame maple.
The neck is maple 2P, and the fingerboard is rosewood.
The pickups are Hofner Staple pickups.
The combination of the light, rubbery sound of the neck pickup and the clear, articulate sound of the bridge pickup is a unique charm of this style of instrument.
