The 4003 is positioned as Rickenbacker's flagship model.
While the basic specifications follow the 4001, it has been updated for modern bassists, primarily focusing on hardware such as the truss rod and pickups.
The body and neck are made of maple, and the fretboard has a gloss finish, a standard feature for the brand.
It features a single double-action truss rod, a newly designed bridge, and a slimmer neck, making it a more modern update.
The greatest appeal of this model lies in its extremely thick low-mids and low-density, and its sharp, metallic attack.
Its sound possesses a mass like a steel ball.
