ESP is one of Japan's representative guitar brands, world-renowned alongside Fender and Gibson.
The AP SL 5 is a custom model that combines classic playability with modern performance.
The body is likely Ash, while the neck and fingerboard are Maple, featuring a classic wood composition.
Although it appears to originally be equipped with two humbucking pickups, the neck pickup has been replaced with a single-coil type.
Furthermore, the pickguard has likely been newly manufactured. Based on these features, it is believed to have been modified with LAKLAND as its motif.
Both pickups are Seymour Duncan, and the preamp is also a product from the same company.
A switch is integrated into the volume pot to instantly bring up tones optimal for slap bass.
It can be considered a flagship model for ESP, designed to fit the modern scene while possessing the universal values demanded by many bassists.
The remaining fret depth is approximately 80%. The truss rod is somewhat stiff, but we confirmed that it rotates about 90 degrees without any difficulty.
The neck is in excellent condition with almost no distortion.
The body and paint surface have some minor scratches, but there are no major visible damages. There is a dent near the headstock, but it is small and not noticeable. (Please refer to the detailed photos.)
The electronic system is in good condition.
A clear modification is that the neck PU, which appears to have originally been a humbucking PU, has been changed to a single-coil PU. It seems to be a modification modeled after LAKLAND.
