Description & Condition

Bacchus is a Japanese brand based in Nagano.

It's a brand under the Deviser umbrella, which owns a large guitar factory called the Asuka Factory. The high quality, stemming from the factory's in-house production, is highly regarded by many musicians.

Bacchus offers several series at different price points, but the Universe series, in particular, pursues excellent cost performance.

The WJB5-1DX is a JB model that prioritizes playability and sound while keeping the price down.

The body shape is the same Dinky shape as the top-of-the-line WOODLINE series.

The neck joint features a heel-less cut and contouring, resulting in excellent playability in the higher positions.

The frets are made of stainless steel, which offers superior wear resistance and stain resistance.

This is more expensive than nickel frets, making its use at this price point innovative.

The neck is made of roasted maple.

Roasted Maple is originally a Finnish technique, and in terms of its use in musical instruments, the Kansai-based brand Sago is a pioneer.

This material is said to have increased rigidity by evaporating moisture through high-temperature processing. Naturally, wood that warps during this process is not used.

In two senses, this results in a high-quality finish.

Instruments using Roasted Maple have a well-established resonance and a playability that, in a good way, lacks the "new" feel.

Similar to stainless steel frets, this specification is not usually found in instruments in this price range.

The fingerboard uses black-dyed Purpleheart.

Combined with the matching headstock, it has a luxurious look.

The pickup and 2-band EQ preamp are Bacchus originals.

This combination is excellent, producing a wide-range and fast sound.

With 5-string basses in this price range, there are often concerns about the resonance of the low B, but after actually playing it, those concerns were unfounded.

The perception that "low B strings on low-priced basses don't sound good" must be revised.

Please try the GIB.

This product offers the following GIB mod options:

Jack replacement (Switchcraft): +3000 yen

Since jacks are consumables, replacing them with more durable ones is a good idea.
