This model is an original black jazz bass manufactured in 1968.

7MAR68A is stamped on the neck end.
There is a signature 18-5-68 on the neck PU. The bridge PU is signed 10-15-68.
Both the bridge PU pot and tone pot are stamped 304-6618.

Based on these, I determined that it was made in 1968.

The body is Alder, and the fingerboard is a round Rosewood, which is a popular spec.

This black color is noteworthy.
Black feels like a standard color for current guitars/bass, but at the time Fender classified it as a custom color like CAR and LPB.

Also, among the many custom colors, the number of production is by no means large and it can be said to be rare and valuable.

The pickup is the original gray bobbin.
When the product arrived, both the neck PU and bridge PU had broken coils, so GIB removed the broken coils and reconnected them.
It can be played without any problems.

The refret and the nut have also been changed accordingly.
It can be said that the repair of the binding on the tongue part is very clean, and that the rubbing accuracy is high and that it is a professional work.

This leaves the neck in very good condition.
Also, since the frets are larger than usual, there is more room for rubbing.

Although there are some modifications, it looks like it has been well maintained and can be used for a long time.

It has a sharp and crisp sound typical of mid-60s jazz bass.
It can also be used in modern music.

Approximately 75% of the frets remain.
The truss rod is in good condition.
The condition of the neck is good.
The body and painted surface show signs of use, with dents, scratches, and paint peeling here and there. Weather check and slight paint deterioration can also be seen.
The electrical system is in good condition.
There are repair marks on the wood on the 1st string side near the head. There is no problem in normal use.
The neck PU lead wire has been replaced with a new one. One of the bridge PU mounting screws has been replaced. The neck PU pot has been replaced with the current CTS one.
The strap pin on the head part has been replaced. One pickguard screw has been replaced.
