The Stingray is the brand's most popular standard model.
It is no exaggeration to say that it is one of the most popular basses in the world, along with Fender's Jazz Bass and Precision Bass.

This is a Special model, so it has some special specifications.
The neck is made of Roasted Maple.

It was originally developed as a Finnish technology to make saunas.
It is characterized by its high stability even in high temperatures and humidity, as the moisture and oil inside the wood is evaporated by treating it at high temperatures.
In terms of sound, it has a more mature and rich sound.

The fingerboard is Rosewood.

I remember that the pickups and preamps were completely redesigned around the time the Stingray Special was released.

The pickups are made of neodymium magnets.
This resulted in a powerful and wide-range sound.

The preamp was previously powered by 9V, but now it is powered by 18V.

When one manufacturer handles everything from the pickup to the preamp, the manufacturer's intentions are strongly reflected in the sound, and the result is a very unique product, regardless of whether it is good or bad.

I personally like this revamp, and it feels very sophisticated and well-made.

The tuning machines are redesigned and lightweight open-gear type.

It goes without saying that the balance is very good when you hold it, but I think there is also a positive change in the sound that makes the most of the more powerful electronics.

The control plate and bridge also seem lighter somehow.

Personally, I like the vintage 3-knob Stingrays, and to be honest, I didn't think the current model could be compared to them in a negative way.

However, when I considered this renewed Stingray Special, I found that this thinking was incorrect.

This is an ambitious model that I would recommend to anyone who is also looking for a Stingray, but only wants something vintage or classic.
