Alleva Coppolo is a brand founded by Jimmy Coppolo based on his experience working at renowned establishments in New York, including the famous Rudy’s.

The brand’s workshop was originally located in New York, but it has since moved to California.

This particular instrument appears to have been made shortly after the workshop relocated to California.

The bridge differs from the earliest models, but unlike the current version, it does not have any engraving. It may have been made during a transitional period.

According to the consignor, the body is Alder, the neck is Maple, and the fingerboard is made of Jimmy Wood. Jimmy Wood is said to be a type of rosewood similar to Brazilian Rosewood. We looked into the actual species, but were unable to determine it with certainty.

The finish is also said to be lacquer.

Based on several characteristics, we believe it can confidently be identified as a Classic model.

As is typical of more recent Alleva instruments, the overall character is refined and clean, with a highly convincing sound.

Fret condition: Approximately 90% remaining.
Truss rod condition: Good.
Neck condition: There is some curvature originating around the neck joint, which can cause buzzing in the higher positions when the action is set low. However, with our standard setup (2.0mm on the G string and 2.8mm on the B string at the 12th fret), there is no buzzing or other issue. Lowering the action further would require fret leveling, but there is sufficient fret height remaining to perform the repair if desired.
Body and finish condition: There are some minor dings and scratches, but no noticeable damage.
Electronics condition: Good.
