The Precision Bass, the world's first fretted solid-body electric bass, instantly captivated bassists worldwide. Its brilliance remains unchanged and it continues to be loved even more than half a century after its creation.

The bass evolved from its original form, known as the Original Precision Bass, to the familiar look we see today in the 1950s.

This product is a 1958 Precision Bass, one of the most popular vintage models.

This represents the beginning of a legendary electric bass, a design that continues to be produced today.

The neck end is signed "11-58." The body below the pickup is signed "10/58."

Both pot dates indicate 1958.

Based on other specifications and serial numbers, it was determined to be a 1958 model.

The body is made of alder, and the neck is a one-piece maple with no attached fretboard.

These are truly specifications typical of that era.

The neck has a slight twist and a slight warp starting at the joint.

Considering its age, it's not bad, but it might be difficult for those who want to play with a low string action.

The frets are somewhat worn, and the original frets were rather low, so those accustomed to modern basses might find them low.

We considered refretting, but decided against it because the condition isn't bad and we wanted to preserve its originality.

Currently, the string action is set at 2.5mm for the G string and 3.0mm for the E string, and there are no issues with sound or playability.

Those who actually play this bass will likely maintain a certain string action, so in that sense, it's not a major weakness.

Regarding the finish, while it shows signs of wear from being played, it's relatively clean considering its age.

The sunburst color on the body and the sheen on the back of the neck are still present.

Regarding the sheen on the back of the neck, it's possible it's an over-lacquer finish.

It's remarkably well-preserved, which suggests this, but other instruments from the same era also exhibit this type of finish, so it might simply be a characteristic of the paintwork at that time.

However, the texture indicates that it has been played extensively while being carefully maintained.

This instrument retains almost all of its original condition.

In addition to the aforementioned parts, the hardware, including the black bobbin pickups, potentiometers, and wax paper capacitor, is also original.

The nut, however, is likely to have been replaced.

The pickups, capacitors, and bridge are still popular enough to be reissued by Fender under the name of this era, and their originality makes them valuable.

The sound produced by these specifications is appealing, with a rich low end and clear, strong highs coexisting.

And above all, it possesses the rich midrange characteristic of a vintage bass.

Of course, current basses are also attractive and wonderful, but there's something special about a bass like this.

This guitar has been cherished and played by a musician, and with no replaced parts, it boasts an extremely high degree of originality.

Even just touching it will be a wonderful experience.
