YAMAHA has been supporting the Japanese guitar industry since the dawn of guitar making in Japan, and is the “Gibson of Japan.
This model is the SG-T2, a signature model of Masayoshi Takanaka, one of Japan's leading fusion guitarists.
The design is based on YAMAHA's signature SG model, but with an original tremolo unit, active tone circuit, body top decoration, and other original features.
The body back is Mahogany and the top is Maple.
The TAKANAKA alphabet and palm tree decorations on the top give it a look that is instantly recognizable as Mr. Takanaka's signature model.
The 3-piece neck is made of Maple and Mahogany, and the fingerboard is Ebony with a through neck joint.
Pickups are YAMAHA's original humbucker, SGH-3CC (#QC44380) and original single coil, LIVE-GS6 in HSH layout.
The 5-way selector and active tone circuit installed in the perfect position provide a wide variety of sound variations that make it hard to believe that this is just one guitar.
The humbuckers are automatically coil-tapped when the mix position is selected, and the guitar has a wide range of sounds from fat to edgy.
The bridge is a YAMAHA RM-PRO III.
YAMAHA's original locking tremolo unit enables dynamic arming, further expanding the range of expression.
This rare model was introduced in 1998 and produced until 2006, and is now discontinued.
