Sugi is a brand founded by Mr. Sugimoto, a legend who has supported Japanese guitar making for many years.
They manufacture high-quality guitars and basses in Nagano Prefecture and are highly regarded by many musicians.
Their basses are known to be used by musicians such as Hojin Egawa and Mike Porcaro of TOTO.
This model is the NB5, Sugi's flagship model.
The body top is made of Spalted Burl Maple, and the body back is made of 2P Ash.
The beautiful and striking grain of the Spalted Burl Maple is eye-catching.
The neck is made of 5P Hard Rock Maple.
The technique of laminating multiple pieces of wood to create the neck reduces left-right and individual differences, resulting in greater stability.
The fingerboard is made of Ebony.
This kind of jet-black Ebony is extremely rare these days.
The pickups are original humbucking type.
They are highly regarded.
Both pickups are coil-tappable, allowing for JB-like sounds.
