Description & Condition

Sugi is a brand created by Mr. Sugimoto, a legendary figure who has supported Japanese guitar making for many years.
They manufacture high-quality guitars and basses in Nagano Prefecture, garnering high praise from many musicians.

Their basses are known to be favorites of musicians such as Hojin Egawa and Mike Porcaro of TOTO.

This model is Sugi's flagship NB5.

The body top is Burl Maple and the back is Ash.

The Burl Maple's striking grain is captivating.

The neck is a laminate of maple and what appears to be walnut.
The technique of gluing multiple pieces of wood together to create a neck minimizes variations between left and right guitars and individual differences, resulting in greater stability.

The fingerboard is the brand's signature Cocobolo.
This is an extremely high-quality fingerboard material with properties similar to Jacaranda.

The pickups are an original humbucking type.

This is an extremely highly acclaimed product.

Both pickups are coil-tappable, allowing for a JB-like sound.

Despite having 24 frets, the sound is notably open without being too tight.
This characteristic seems to have a positive impact on both fingerplay and slapping.

This guitar is top-notch in terms of looks, playability, and sound.
Don't miss this opportunity!

Approximately 90% of the frets remain.
The truss rod is in good condition.
The neck shows some forward bending toward the 1st string. As a result, with the GIB standard string height (2.0mm-2.8mm at the 12th fret), there is a general buzz on the 1st string. To completely eliminate this symptom, the string height needs to be raised by about 0.5mm.
The body and finish have some minor scratches, but are generally clean.
The electrical system is in good condition.
No obvious modifications were found.
