Description & Condition

Steinberger is a modern brand that sparked a revolution with its groundbreaking designs.
They pioneered the use of materials other than wood, adopted a square body design, and created something completely different in many ways.

This is the L-25UF (unlined fretless).

It's a 5-string, fretless model.

Some Steinberger enthusiasts believe that only a few were produced, but this is unclear.

It is true that there are extremely few of these, and that they are a model that has attracted a lot of interest from the community.

Determining their age is difficult because the pickups and pots have all been replaced, and the serial number is not engraved where it would normally be.

The consignor explained that this guitar was made in 1982 and likely repaired by HeadlessUSA, which specializes in Steinberger repairs, but we have no solid evidence to support this.

Based on other specifications, we believe it is a product from the 1980s.

The body and neck are distinctively constructed from graphite.

This model does not have a truss rod.

It currently maintains appropriate relief with a slight forward bow.
With the bridge for the first string fully down, the adjustment is between 2.2mm and 3.0mm, and it plays without any issues.

The pickups are EMG.
They have been replaced with current models that can be wired solderlessly.

Controls consist of a simple neck pickup volume control, bridge pickup volume control, and master tone control.

It may seem more inorganic than a bass made of wood, but the sound is surprisingly organic and flavorful.

It has a clear sound image that doesn't blur even with the abundant low frequencies, and a beautiful mid-range that's appealing.

This tone seems to pair well with fretless guitars.

This model does not have a truss rod.
The neck currently maintains appropriate relief with a slight forward bow. The bridge for the first string is adjusted to 2.2mm-3.0mm with the bridge fully lowered. It is playable without any problems.
The body and finish show occasional dents and scratches, and show signs of use.
The electrical system is in good condition.
The pickups have been replaced with current EMG models. The pots have also been replaced with current models. The outer set screw on the bridge for the first string is stripped.
