Description & Condition
Spector is a guitar and bass brand founded in New York in 1974 by Stuart Spector.
Shortly after its launch, Vinny Fodera—who would later establish Fodera Guitars—also worked at the Spector workshop.
The brand’s NS model gained explosive popularity worldwide; this model was developed in collaboration with Ned Steinberger.
While the brand offers models made in Asia and the USA, this particular model is made in the Czech Republic.
The NS-4CR is a model primarily produced during the SSD era.
SSD stands for Stuart Spector Design.
This brand existed from 1991 to 1998, when the original logo could no longer be used due to Kramer’s bankruptcy.
Since this instrument bears the Spector logo, it was likely produced after the SSD era, between 1998 and the early 2000s.
This is a niche model, but it is known for having been produced in very limited quantities.
The body and neck feature a maple through-neck construction, and the fingerboard is likely rosewood.
By connecting high-density maple via a through-neck design, it achieves a tight, quick attack and rich sustain with minimal decay.
It is equipped with EMG PJ-type pickups.
The preamp likely utilizes the original active circuitry.
Combined with the clear, noise-free EMG pickups, this allows for precise control of Spector’s signature powerful tone right at your fingertips.
Sonically, deep lows coexist with the transparent treble characteristic of EMG pickups.
The high-mid harmonics are exceptionally clear, boasting overwhelming speed and massive punch that maintain pitch accuracy even during fast phrasing or in heavy ensembles.
This is a highly practical instrument that is an excellent fit for players seeking to balance powerful energy with precise pitch control.
The frets have approximately 70% remaining.
The truss rod is stiff, but approximately 90 degrees of movement has been confirmed.
The neck is in good condition.
The body and paintwork show some scratches.
The electronics are in good condition.
No obvious modifications were observed.
