Description & Condition
Jad Freer Audio is an Italian audio equipment designer and manufacturer founded by Mauro Freddi and Giada Pezzi.
Mauro is an expert in electronics and audio engineering, and he designs electronic components that meet professional specifications.
Giada supports hardware design, and their combined expertise produces high-quality products.
Originally renowned for producing effects pedals, the company now also produces amplifiers and cabinets.
While primarily popular with European musicians, it is now rapidly gaining attention worldwide.
The reason for this is its bass preamp, the CAPO.
They call the CAPO not just a preamp, but a ""Multiple Preamp - DI - Saturator - FX Loop.""
It is a crucial pedal that should become the core of any bassist's pedalboard.
This preamp features two different preamps, an A-SIDE and a B-SIDE, as well as two saturators with different characteristics, J and F.
The A SIDE is a clean preamp with ample headroom.
Its very natural character strongly reinforces the tone while preserving the original sound of the instrument.
The next section is the saturator.
The J and F saturators have different characteristics, and the balance can be freely adjusted, and the mix ratio with the A SIDE preamp can also be freely changed.
J has a rich low end and strong attack.
F, in contrast, is characterized by a strong mid-range, giving it a vintage-like texture.
The main concept of CAPO is to freely mix the contrasting saturations of J and F with the extremely flat character of the A SIDE.
You can create a sense of saturation that leans towards your preferred amp-like character while maximizing the dynamic range.
This blended tone can then be adjusted using the 3-band EQ.
BASS: ±12dB @ 80Hz (shelving)
MID: ±9dB @ 100Hz-10KHz (bandpass)
HIGH: ±12dB @ 4KHz (shelving)
Furthermore, two switches—DEEP, which boosts the low end, and BITE, which adds attack—support even more detailed sound creation.
The other preamp is the FET-based B SIDE.
In contrast to the flat response of the A SIDE, this one has a tube amp-like tone.
Like a classic tube amp, it has a natural response, wide dynamic range, and a wide gain range that covers everything from clean to drive.
It can be operated independently of the A SIDE, or you can operate them in series by selecting their order using the PRE/POST switch.
In addition to its preamp functionality, it also has DI, LPF, and loop effect functions.
The DI has two outputs.
DIRECT OUT sends out a signal that does not pass through the preamp, providing the driest sound.
PREAMP OUT sends out the preamp signal, meaning it has passed through the preamp, EQ, and effects loop.
If the effects loop inverts the phase, the phase of the DIRECT OUT and PREAMP OUT can be aligned using the phase reverse switch.
Using these two signals gives the sound engineer greater flexibility.
The LPF is a high-frequency cut filter designed to eliminate only the necessary amount of unwanted frequency range.
It affects both the PREAMP OUT and OUTPUT, even when the pedal is bypassed.
Two types of loop effects are available: PRE and POST.
PRE is located before the pedal, and POST is located after.
POST can be linked to A SIDE to control its on/off status, or it can be always active.
Hopefully, you'll see that this is more than just a preamp; it's a high-quality multi-pedal that meets many of a bassist's needs.
This is the most cutting-edge technology in the world.
Please give it a try.
It's in excellent condition with no noticeable scratches. It works perfectly.
It passes rigorous inspection by GIB craftsmen before delivery.
