Description & Condition
Description & Condition
J.W. Black is a former Fender master builder who continues crafting exceptional guitars and basses even after going independent.
He began his career in the 70s, working for Sadowsky, Rudy's, and Fender, while also repairing vintage guitars as a private technician (handling instruments for artists like Frank Zappa and Eric Clapton). He later launched his own namesake brand.
This model embodies his core concepts while offering exceptional value through Japanese manufacturing.
It represents a hybrid model: the ultimate Telecaster envisioned by J.W. Black, Fender's premier craftsman, manufactured by a Japanese guitar brand.
The body is crafted from Ash.
Finished in a translucent Blonde color that showcases the Ash's grain, it boasts a beautiful appearance.
The neck and fingerboard are Maple.
The neck profile features a slightly thicker shape.
The fretwork and fingerboard edge treatment are meticulous, providing a comfortable playing experience with a solid grip that feels natural.
It features two original single-coil pickups.
Characterized by a sparkling, edgy sound.
While packed with classic Telecaster elements, it's finished with high playability and a hot sound, perfect for modern musicians.
Approximately 80% of the frets remain.
The truss rod and neck condition are good.
The body and finish show some tarnish around the metal hardware.
There is a dent on the lower body top, and dents are also visible near the side strap pin, elbow area, end pin area, and jack area.
The body back has numerous fine dents scattered across it, with dents on the 1st string side cutaway area being particularly noticeable.
Additionally, dents are visible near the volute on the neck back and near the 1st and 5th string peg posts on the headstock top.
The electronics are in good condition.
No significant modifications were observed.
