Freedom is a Tokyo-based guitar workshop that enjoys overwhelming support from professional musicians in Japan, and in recent years, its name has begun to resonate overseas.

Originally highly regarded for its repair work, the company now focuses on manufacturing, and its creations are loved by many musicians for their high quality and rational design sense.

All basses from this brand are manufactured in Tokyo.

Through strict quality control, the wood used is carefully selected, and any wood that does not meet the standards is not used in the products.

This level of quality control is possible precisely because it is a small workshop.

In that sense, the quality is fundamentally different from that of products made in large factories.

This is a 5-string PJ model with an impressive Burgundy Mist lacquer finish.

The body is made of alder, and the fretboard is made of Indian rosewood—a classic combination.

The pickups are original.

What is particularly noteworthy is its superior playability and the sound that musicians truly desire in a PJ pickup.

Respecting Fender's traditions, the meticulously crafted neck, using stainless steel frets, is truly top-notch.

While it doesn't have a particularly unique shape, that's precisely what makes its basic quality stand out.

The sharp response, speedy, and wide-range sound also contribute to its high playability.

A major issue with PJ basses is the unique sound when mixed; this might be something PJ enthusiasts are already accepting.

The strangely distorted phase nuance can sometimes be negative.

Few brands have a solution for this balance, but Freedom does.

For the P pickup, one of the 3rd string pole pieces is made a dummy to adjust the balance between the number of turns and the wire length.

For the J pickup, the shielding is higher than usual to maintain a refined balance when mixed.

This is extremely rational for PJ-style basses, where noise cancellation in the mix is not possible.

Few brands can produce a 5-string PJ bass of this quality.

That's why I think so many working musicians use it. A superb instrument that embodies the timeless Fender spirit while maintaining the PJ style.
